We really didnt know what to expect venturing into Mexico - where by June this year there had already been around 11 000 killed directly because of the cartels bloody battles for power. We crossed the international border with a head full of excitement and anxiety. After being grilled by an intimidating Customs officer through the window, all of the sudden we were passing sweaty, thick moustached hombres wearing white cowboy hats and statues of jesus locked in secure caging. Throughout the 2.5 days of straight driving, the landscape changed from classic Wiley Kyote arid landscapes to lush, tropical Jurrasic park scenery. We eventually made it to a small coastal town called San Blas, where we able to camp on the beach and use the facilities at "Stoners Surf Cap" (the name of the wave-NOT a characteristic of the ocupants!)...
